What is motion sickness?

motion sickness kinetosis
From the mildest yawning to the most severe nausea, the consequences of motion sickness are diverse in their manifestations and in their intensity. Called seasickness, airsickness or naupathy, motion sickness originates from a sensory conflict between the different components of the sense of balance; specifically a difference in perception between peripheral vision and the vestibular system of the inner ear. When a passenger is in a moving vehicle, his vision is confined : he does not perceive enough information on the movement in which the body is embarked. For its part, the inner ear system constantly picks up the accelerations and other rotations of the body.

A conflict between the eye and the inner ear

This discrepancy creates a crisis situation for the brain, which the latter will try to resolve by all means, resulting in headaches, dizziness, cold sweats, etc... The urgency to resolve this crisis pushes the body to get rid of ancillary tasks such as digestion; hence the well-known vomiting of the most sensitive people, which can lead in the most serious cases to critical dehydration or even coma.
Faced with this situation, some individuals prioritize information from the inner ear on their own, after a more or less rapid period of learning: this is the phenomenon of amarinage . Others will have more difficulty dealing with this contrary information and will deal with the symptoms of motion sickness.
To combat motion sickness most effectively , vision must therefore be synchronized with the perceptions of the vestibular system. It is precisely for this reason that Boarding Glasses is the best solution available!
